Australia’s Cosiest Winter Pub Plans

3min | July 1st, 2026

Winter food, drinks and pub plans across Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide…

Winter is doing what winter does best, making pub plans feel like the correct answer to almost every question.

Across Australia, pubs on The Pass are leaning into the season with roast lunches, Christmas in July feasts, mulled wine, bottomless gnocchi, private glasshouses, drag brunches, riverside movies, family fun days and long lunches.

Whether you’re planning a cosy Sunday roast, a midweek dinner, a group catch-up, a festive family lunch or a winter night out with a bit of sparkle, there’s plenty happening across Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Pick your city below and find your next winter plan.

Perth

Perth winter is playing to its strengths: beachside views, rooftop lunches, big plates of comfort food and enough Christmas in July action to make Santa check the west coast schedule.

Start with Bottomless Gnocchi at Scarborough Beach Bar, where Thursdays are for two hours of pillowy gnocchi, chef-selected sauces and ocean views. The Guildford Hotel is going big too, with Bottomless BBQ, Christmas in July Roast by the Metre and Winterville, an immersive Nordic-style dining experience with a three-course feast and interactive cocktails.

Families can get festive at Victoria Park Hotel’s Christmas in July Family Fun Day, while there’s also Drag Brunch at The Court, Sunday Carvery at The Duke, Après Ski Long Lunches at The Claremont and cheesy Lasagne Rolls at Lil’s. A winter line-up with very little interest in staying home.

Brisbane

Brisbane and surrounds are taking Christmas in July seriously, which feels only fair. If winter is going to be brief, it may as well come with roast turkey, festive cocktails and brandy custard.

Crown Hotel in Lutwyche is serving a classic Christmas in July feast across July, complete with ham and turkey roast, baked seasonal vegetables, Christmas pudding and an ugly sweater competition for anyone brave enough to bring out the loud knitwear.

In Fortitude Valley, Hey Chica is giving winter a party setting with festive cocktails, themed menu moments, winter wonderland styling and snowfall moments across the month. For group feasts, Fitzy’s Loganholme is serving two-course and three-course Christmas in July menus, with turkey, honey glazed ham, festive trimmings and classic desserts.

It’s the kind of winter planning that works for family lunches, EOFY dinners, group catch-ups and nights out that need a little extra festive nonsense.

Melbourne

The Wharf Hotel in Docklands is leading the winter mood with private Glasshouses overlooking the Yarra River. Each enclosed glasshouse is made for groups of up to 10, with dining and lounge packages, winter grazing, optional chocolate fondue, tasting paddles, Paint & Sip and changing themes like Sunflower House, Starry Night and Scarlet Bloom.

Yarra Botanica is keeping midweek plans alive with movie nights by the river every Wednesday, screening crowd favourites across winter. Over in St Kilda, West Beach Pavilion is warming up Mondays with Salsa & Sip, then backing it up with Winter Cinema on Wednesdays, popcorn included.

For something with a bit more chaos, Morris House is bringing the Comedy Christmas Feast, a Christmas in July lunch and live comedy show with a three-course feast, wine on arrival, prizes and an ugly Christmas jumper competition.

Date night, group dinner, riverside cinema, beachside salsa or festive comedy lunch, Melbourne has the range.

Adelaide

Adelaide winter is all about the pub classics: roast lunches, fireplaces, festive menus, drag bingo and family-friendly afternoons that make leaving the house feel worth it

The Duck Inn in Coromandel Valley is bringing the full winter mood with Christmas in July, a four-course set menu and mulled wine on arrival. It also serves a Sunday Roast every week, because some Sundays are simply better with gravy.

Hope Inn Hotel in Hindmarsh is adding sparkle to the season with Vonni’s Drag Bingo Bonanza, including a Christmas twist, prizes and plenty of crowd energy. The Mile End Hotel is keeping things classic with a $25 Sunday Roast, while Payneham Tavern is serving its own roast with lamb, beef or pork, plus roasted vegetables and gravy.

Further out, Robe Hotel is doing Sunday Roast by the coast, making it a very good excuse for a winter pub lunch with a sea breeze attached.

From Hills dining to suburban roasts and drag bingo nights, Adelaide is making a strong case for booking the table before the couch wins.
