College Lawn Hotel

Sitting on Prahran’s infamous Greville Street, this local favourite is always heaving when the Melbourne weather heats up. Its sun drenched beer garden features an upper and lower terrace and adjacent bar, with ten different beers on tap and luscious greenery.

The outdoor space has casual bench seating where you can relax with your friends and an undercover area so you can get some shade while still enjoying the fresh air. If the weather turns a little bit chilly, there are heaters so you can still enjoy the outdoor space.

The Sunday sessions at the College are legendary, with live tunes, cocktails and good times for everyone – including your four-legged dog friends. And if you’re planning an event, you can rent out the entire space for events where you can celebrate with up to 250 people.

Prince Alfred Richmond

The Prince Alfred offers an oasis from Richmond’s bustling Church St. A sophisticated spot popular with locals, the stylishly designed courtyard beer garden is the perfect place to soak up some sun with lush greenery and retro umbrellas.

The place gets packed with southside’s finest for after work drinks and on weekends. When the Melbourne weather turns cold, there is undercover deck seating surrounding the perimeter of the garden area where you can warm up under the heaters whilst still enjoying being outdoors.

If you’re feeling peckish, Prince Alfred has a reputation for offering some of the best food in Richmond. Keep an eye on their daily specials, as they do food specials on weeknights as well as a Sunday roast and happy hour 4:00 to 6:00pm every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Richmond Club Hotel

Originally known as the Duke of Richmond, the Richmond Club Hotel is a sprawling multi level pub that also happens to boast one of the best beer gardens in town. The big outdoor beer garden on level one is a perfect place to enjoy some sun with friends.

The huge pub has bars and space in every nook and cranny over multiple floors. There are outdoor terraces on each level, along with a rooftop bar, so there are no shortage of spots to get some time outside taking in the Melbourne cityscape with a few drinks.

The Richmond Club has happy hour Monday to Friday between 4:00pm and 7:00pm, perfect for sunset sips. There are also nightly specials including Tuesday parma night, Wednesday steak nights and trivia on Thursday for those wanting to get some friends together and test their knowledge.

Prahan Hotel

Prahran Hotel’s garden bar blurs the line between outside and inside with a lush courtyard that fills up with locals when the weather heats up. With modern design features and an adjacent bar this is the perfect place to get the crew together and enjoy some time in the sun.

Whether it be a drink with mates, date night, or grabbing a casual feed, Prahran Hotel courtyard is the place to be for some outdoor action. As the sun goes down on Fridays, don’t miss out on seeing in the weekend with the hotel’s weekly Friday cocktail happy hour that goes from 9pm till late and attracts the chic local crowd.

There is an extensive bar and cocktail list, as well as steak and parma nights Tuesday and Wednesday, trivia on Thursdays and a happy hour that runs from 4:00pm and 7:00 pm Tuesday to Friday.

Harlow

This Church St favourite has the perfect setup for some urban summer sipping. With a cool beer garden and an epic rooftop bar overlooking the city, you can easily lose a whole afternoon here soaking up the atmosphere in the sun. Harlow’s outdoor space offers a real inner-city vibe, with colourful murals, slick timber decking and a modern industrial feel. There’s plenty of room for punters with a mix of standing and seating options, a perfect setup for social gatherings.

For a bit of al fresco dining, the kitchen serves up pub classics with a modern twist. Popular dishes include pimped up schnitty’s, cheeseburger tacos and fried chicken with buffalo sauce.

BrewDog brewing company lays claim to being one of the largest craft breweries in the world, so it makes sense they would have a pretty good setup to enjoy their tasty brews. Housed in the Pentridge prison precinct, this place is perfect for a sunny weekend session.

The sprawling space opens out onto a big square beer garden with plenty of benches and spots to settle into a few cold ones with mates on a warm summer’s day. The location is a huge 12,000 square feet big, and boasts two onsite bars with plenty of beers on tap so you won’t have to wait in line too long.
