Melbourne’s pubs are stepping up these spring holidays, giving parents the perfect excuse to settle in with a meal and a drink while the kids get messy, get creative and have fun.
The Messy Club is taking over Anglers Tavern these school holidays, with four creative workshops giving kids the chance to show off their artistic side, plus a magician, a petting zoo and a butterfly enclosure joining the fun.
Kids can also enjoy the epic play areas, with giant noughts and crosses, a reading room, an interactive scrabble wall, an iPad station, bikes and trikes and an outdoor playground. Sundays are family fun days too, with free rotating kids’ entertainment from 12pm–2pm.
Families can enjoy affordable school holiday fun at The Victoria Hotel in Yarraville, with a range of activities available for just $5 per child — each ticket includes a complimentary ice cream or Frog in the Pond.
There’s also the Kids Room to explore, with a magnetic wall, reading nook, drawing station, tech zone and interactive kiosk cafe, plus a kids menu with healthy options, free live kids entertainment on Sundays from 12:30pm–3:30pm, and kids eat free every Monday with a select main meal purchase.
For just $5, kids can access the fun-filled activity program at The Auburn Hotel in Hawthorn, with a complimentary ice cream included with each ticket. All activities run from 2pm–4pm.
Parents can relax in the beer garden any time while the kids make the most of the outdoor play area, and there’s a free petting zoo every Sunday from 12:30pm–3:30pm.

Set in the beautiful surrounds of Studley Park in Kew, Studley Park Boathouse is running Camp Studley, a fun-filled nature adventure with s’mores, outdoor fun and quality family time built in.
For little ones under 7, the Mini Explorers Program runs every Sunday, inviting kids to get creative with nature-inspired crafts. Each week brings a different activity, with sessions charged per child (no cost for adults) at 9:00am, 10:15am and 2:00pm, each running for 45 minutes.
